YOGA & MINDFULNESS
About 90% of people in Dzaleka suffer from physical, psychological, and mental illnesses as a result of being exposed to traumatic events, including war, violence, death, and living in a harsh camp environment all of their lives. Art for Hope integrates mental and physical health initiatives such as yoga, mindfulness as a holistic approach to enhancing their living standards through the promotion of physical, mental, and psychological wellbeing, and community bonding.
Yoga and Mindfulness for Mental and Physical Health

Community classes
We run a yoga outreach program in Dzaleka to support healing, empowerment, and resilience. Our team is dedicated to making the practice more inclusive and nondiscriminatory so that everyone in the camp, regardless of age, gender, religion, or physical ability, can benefit from this practice.
Art for Hope's goal is to help refugees find empowerment within their current environment, gain more self-control, make healthier choices, become more mindful, and attain greater emotional intelligence. We encourage people to listen to their bodies, honor their limits, and embrace their uniqueness to gain peace within themselves and their community.
The community classes happens at our studio and at different spaces in 12 zones of Dzaleka camp.

Schools outreach program
Since 2016, we have implemented the yoga and mindfulness program into schools in and around Dzaleka camp. We applied this techniques as means to reach to many children and youth in primary and secondary schools including universities and colleges such as the JWL, ATE-Hub, DAPP to help them reduce stress levels, improve focus and concentration, enhance self-awareness, promote emotional regulation, and cultivate a positive mindset and improve their academic performance.

Counseling and Psychosocial Support

Healing Minds, Inspiring Hope

In the Dzaleka camp, refugees endure immense challenges resulting from forced displacement, conflict, and trauma. Their continuous hardships in this overwhelming environment further compound their suffering.
These experiences aggravate mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, depression, feelings of isolation, and hopelessness. Unfortunately, the lack of proper and sufficient mental health support exacerbates their pain, hindering their ability to rebuild their lives and integrate into the vibrant Dzaleka community.

At Art for Hope, we believe in the power of arts, education, and community support to bring healing and empowerment to refugees. Our Healing Minds, Inspiring Hope program aims to provide essential counseling services and psychosocial support to alleviate psychological distress while fostering resilience among refugees.
